A lot of things drives technologies and the trend now is going back to basic. It all started off with OLPC project trying to achieve making a laptop at a selling price of USD 100 (RM 330). This has trigger a lot of other technology company to come up with lesser and smaller basic needs of PC such as the infamous Asus eeePC which came in at a entry price of USD 399 (RM 1,317 – Selling price in Malaysia is RM 1399) , TwinHead comes in and produce the E10 which come in slightly more expensive than the eeePC. This also follows Microsoft jumping into the bandwagon by extending the support for Windows XP for these PC. HP also follow ensue with the introduction of their HP Mini-note 2133 The latest we see last week at Taiwan are Acer Aspire One and Dell Inspiron Mini. in between all these there is also the MSI U100 which hide itself along the way. All these are way behind the pioneer in UMPC – OQO. The non-competing player is non other than Sony with their VAIO.

A Cloud comparison of all the subnotebook as it is called is available at wikipedia.

With the blooming of the 3G Internet services, Computing is getting more portable.

I wish I can have my hand on some of the UMPC to test and write some review for it.
